PHILADELPHIA –  November 12, 2014 – State Sen. Larry Farnese (D-Philadelphia) today was elected by his fellow Democratic senators to be the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Caucus’ new secretary.

“It’s an honor to be voted onto the Democratic caucus’ leadership team by my fellow senators,” said Farnese. “I’m looking forward to serving the caucus to the best of my ability and working with Gov.-elect Tom Wolf and Lt. Gov.-elect Mike Stack to make sure Pennsylvania’s best and brightest who are nominated to serve the commonwealth receive the respect and support they deserve from the Senate Democratic Caucus during the nominating process.”

The caucus secretary is charged with overseeing and guiding the executive nominations that come before the Pennsylvania Senate for consideration. The other members of the new Democratic leadership team are:

  • Leader – Sen. Jay Costa (D-Allegheny)
  • Whip – Sen. Anthony Williams (D-Philadelphia)
  • Caucus Chair – Sen. Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny)
  • Appropriations Chair – Sen. Vincent Hughes (D-Philadelphia)
  • Appropriations Vice Chair – Sen. John Blake (D-Lackawanna)
  • Caucus Administrator – Sen. John Yudichak (D-Luzerne)
  • Policy Chair – Sen. Lisa Boscola (D-Northampton/Lehigh/Monroe)

The new positions will take effect on Dec. 1 and they each carry a two year term.
