HARRISBURG, March 1, 2018 − Sen. Larry Farnese (D-Philadelphia) today announced a new grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) that will promote the development and marketing of beer brewing in Pennsylvania.

One of the grantees is Pennsylvania Pursue Your Hoppiness, a project with the PA Department of Community and Economic Development that will identify and promote 12 trails that geographically link breweries based on existing tourism regions. The promotion of these “beer trails” will help create a unique brand identity for Pennsylvanian’s malt and brewed beverage industry. The project was awarded $127,500.

“Pennsylvania’s beer industry is growing to become a significant tourism and economic benefit to the state,” said Senator Farnese. “The promotion of Pennsylvania breweries through Pennsylvania Pursue Your Hoppiness will help this industry continue to flourish. I want to thank the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for their help and support of this project.”

Sen. Farnese worked to secure the grant funding for this project through the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s (PLCB) Pennsylvania Malt and Brewed Beverage Industry Promotion Board.  The Pennsylvania Malt and Brewed Beverage Industry Promotion Board was created in 2016 to provide improved development and marketing of Pennsylvania’s brewing industry.

“This is a fun and unique way to promote Pennsylvania brewing and increase interest in what the industry has to offer,” said Senator Farnese.

PLCB has so far awarded grants totaling $704,985 to 13 projects.
