Sen. Larry Farnese & Staff Join “Back on My Feet” Fight to End Homelessness on “Wear Your Sneakers to Work Day”
June 19, 2009 - Senator Larry Farnese and his Philadelphia district office staff teamed with homelessness prevention organization, Back on My Feet (BOMF) and participated in "Wear Your Sneakers to Work.” The event kicked off BOMF's second anniversary celebration and $100,000 campaign.
More than 12,000 sneaker-wearing employees at 60 participating local businesses throughout Philadelphia wore their sneakers to work and donated at least $5 each, to support BOMF’s mission to prevent homelessness. The Senator and several other companies also matched their employees’ donations.
Senator Farnese said organizations like Back on My Feet are needed now more than ever, considering the weak economy.
“My staff and I were honored to be able to take part in an event that will help Back on My Feet continue its mission to combat homelessness through its innovative running program, which ultimately lands members jobs and permanent homes. We congratulate Back on My Feet for two years of giving back to others in need during these trying times.”
