Farnese, Big Brothers Big Sisters to Host Bikes for Kids Program
HARRISBURG, December 16, 2009 - - State Sen. Larry Farnese (D-Phila.) today announced that he will partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA, Philadelphia Neighborhood Bike Works and CH2M HILL’s Philadelphia office to distribute bikes and helmets to 35 underprivileged children in the Philadelphia area as part of the Bikes for Kids program.
The event will take place on Friday, December 18, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas School, located at 1719 Morris Street in Philadelphia.
“It is a thrill to provide these local children with new bikes and helmets during the holiday season,” Farnese said. “I applaud the selfless work of the CH2M HILL employees that work hard all year long to raise enough money to run this great program.”
CH2M HILL staff members organize and participate in Bikes for Kids fundraising events throughout the year, and also help assemble the bikes prior to distribution.
Farnese said that the bikes will be evenly distributed to boys and girls.
“We are delighted to team with Senator Farnese this year to help brighten the holidays for some deserving children among his constituency,” CH2M HILL Philadelphia Area Manager Jed Campbell said. “A core element of our corporate culture is meaningful involvement in the communities in which our employees live and work, and we are grateful to Senator Farnese for providing us with the opportunity to fulfill this important mission.”
Neighborhood Bike Works is a nonprofit educational organization in West Philadelphia that seeks to increase opportunities for urban youth through bicycling and shares CH2M HILL’s commitment to promote cycling as an environmentally-friendly means of transportation.
CH2M HILL provides engineering, construction, operations, and related technical services to public and private clients.
