I will be hosting an LGBTQIA+ Resource Fair on October 23rd from 6-8pm at the William Way Community Center located at 1315 Spruce Street. The fair will offer information about programs, services, and local organizations available to help the LGBTQIA+ community. All are welcome to attend. Philly Grocery Co-Op Day!
October 19th is Philly Grocery Co-Op Day! Today, I joined Mayor Kenney, State Representative Mary Isaacson, State Representative Chris Rabb, the Kensington Community Co-Op, the South Philly Food Co-Op, and the Mariposa Co-Op for the proclamation ceremony. Please check out the great food and services the co-ops provide to our neighbors and communities.
On Sunday October 13, 2019 I had the pleasure of attending Philadelphia’s 29th OutFest, which coincides each year with National Coming Out Day. I was happy to run into Councilmember Mark Squilla and State Representative Maria Donatucci while enjoying the festivities.
I had the pleasure of attending the Indigo Ball on Saturday, October 12, 2019 which supports the William Way LGBT Community Center. This year’s gala honored LGBTQ pioneers with an emphasis on the contribution of black and brown trans women, highlighting ways they have fought for the community. I was honored to meet Kendall Stephens, recipient of this year’s Community Service Award. Kendall’s story was an inspiration and a true representation of how much of an impact the William Way Center has on people’s lives.
Rebuilding Together Philadelphia
On Friday, October 11, 2019 I had the chance to stop by the Kensington Block Build! RT Philadelphia and the amazing volunteers are repairing 10 houses on the block. This is a great project that has brought a neighborhood and folks from all around the city not just to rebuild a house, but a home.
SB614 – Working to Protect Pennsylvanians from Discrimination
I am pleased to announce that each and every one of my Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Caucus colleagues have joined as cosponsors to my bill, SB614. This is LGBT History Month. Take a moment to celebrate how far the LGBTQIA+ community has come, but recognize there is so much work to be done. Everyone deserves equality, no matter who you are or who you love. LOVE IS LOVE.

29th Street Pedestrian Bridge
I am so happy I was able to help secure funding for the lighting of the 29th Street Pedestrian Bridge. The lighting is now installed, and people can now enjoy safe travel along the bridge.
Ground Breaking for Fishtown Crossing
I had the pleasure of being part of the ground breaking for Fishtown Crossing on Friday, October 4, 2019! This will be an amazing improvement of the current shopping center and will serve as a great resource to the community.
Hearing on Statute of Limitations
On October 2, 2019, we were in Harrisburg for a PA Senate Judiciary Hearing on Statute of Limitations legislation in the Commonwealth.

2019-2020 Senior Community Center Grants
On behalf of Governor Tom Wolf, the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA) is proud to announce a new grant funding opportunity for Pennsylvania’s Senior Community Centers (SCCs) of $2 million to be awarded for the 2019-20 fiscal year.
The grants are intended to provide funding to enhance Pennsylvania’s SCCs by increasing participation and programming, attract a new generation of older adults, and enable SCCs to provide a safe and healthy environment for participants.
The grant application period is NOW OPEN.
All required application materials must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on November 15, 2019.

Multimodal Transportation Fund – Applications Now Accepted
PennDOT is now accepting applications for projects under the Multimodal Transportation Fund through November 8, 2019. The fund is designed to enhance Pennsylvania roadways, bridges, transit facilities, park and ride facilities, sidewalk, crosswalk safety improvements, bicycle lanes and route designations. Property Tax/Rent Rebates
Applications for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program are now available for eligible Pennsylvanians to begin claiming rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2018. The deadline to apply for a rebate is June 30, 2019.
