With the continued lack of LGBTQ anti-discrimination protections, Pennsylvania is one of the few states that allows legalized discrimination within its borders. We cannot have real reform that benefits the citizens of Pennsylvania until every citizen is treated equally. Anti-discrimination protections for the LGBTQ community need to become law in Pennsylvania. That is why I have reintroduced anti-discrimination legislation this session. My remarks on the importance of passing anti-discrimination legislation in Pennsylvania are available here.
Senate committees are essential elements of the legislative process. They are the first step in the creation of new policies and legislative proposals that can help citizens in my district and across the state. To ensure that my district is well-represented, I sought appointment to critical Senate committees. I am honored to be appointed to serve as Democratic chair of the Senate Community, Economic & Recreational Development Committee and to seats on the Senate’s Banking and Insurance, Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure, Rules & Executive Nominations, and Judiciary committees. More information on my appointment to the committees is available here.
