Legislative Update

Net Neutrality

With the FCC’s Net Neutrality ruling officially going into effect on June 11, it is important that we continue to fight for an open and fair internet. The California Senate just passed Senate Bill 822, which would require companies to treat all internet traffic equally. As that bill awaits a vote in the California State Assembly, it is a strong start in the fight to protect the internet. In January, I introduced a similar bill in the Pennsylvania Senate, SB 1033, which would prevent companies from engaging in Paid prioritization and prohibit blocking of any lawful content. This bill is currently in the Communications and Technology Committee. To find out more information about this bill and how it protects internet consumers click here or contact my office.
