Legislative Update

ALS Awareness Month

May is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Awareness month in Pennsylvania. ALS is a fatal neurodegenerative disease with no known cure. Every year, I offer a resolution making this designation to draw attention to this terrible disease affecting over 1,000 Pennsylvanians. Please visit or for more information and to find out ways you can help.

Net Neutrality

The Federal Government recently announced that the repeal of “net neutrality” protections will take place on June 11, 2018. This means that consumers may start paying more for slower internet and restricted content. While Congress contemplates acting to reinstate these rules, I am pushing for Pennsylvania to enact its own net neutrality protections. My bill, Senate Bill 1033, would protect net neutrality and prohibit state and local governments from contracting with internet service providers who fail to adhere to those principles.

NLNA Meeting April 26

Senator Larry Farnese

On April 26, I participated in the Northern Liberties Neighbors Association General Meeting. This was a wonderful opportunity to engage with members of this great community. I was happy to sponsor a $14,000 Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant that will support outdoor renovations and landscaping improvements at the Community Center. I will continue to make sure your voice is heard in Harrisburg.
