As you know the Pennsylvania Senate is back in session and one of the issues that I continue to deeply care about is ensuring that women have access to safe and affordable healthcare. On a side note, remember that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so make sure you get checked!
Today, Pennsylvania law requires individual and group insurance policies to cover mammograms, but it does not prohibit co-pays, co-insurance or deductibles from being applied to these life-saving procedures. In the Senate Appropriations Committee I successfully amended Senate Bill 1432 to make sure breast cancer screenings and treatments remain affordable. Right now the bill is being considered by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and I hope in the coming days they will vote to send it to the governor’s desk for his signature.
Today, I would like to tell you about:
- My continued support for Pennsylvania labor;
- How you can weatherize your home;
- The beginning of LIHEAP season; and
- Becoming a Philadelphia Police Officer.
Please don’t hesitate to call my District Office at 215-952-3121, e-mail me at email@example.com, or visit 1802 S. Broad St., Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for assistance.
Sen. Larry Farnese
Supporting Statewide Labor
I had the privilege of speaking at the 86th Annual Pennsylvania State Council’s Convention of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. In addition to hearing about their concerns, I spoke about prevailing wage, right to work, jobs and building Pennsylvania’s infrastructure. I’m always proud to stand with the men and women of labor!
Energy Coordinating Agency Can Help You Weatherize Your Home
It will start to get cold soon, so you probably should start thinking about weatherizing your home for winter. Philadelphia’s Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA) will offer free weatherization workshops to area groups. During these sessions a trained professional will show you how a few simple changes can save you money and make your home more comfortable all year long. Once the sessions are finalized more information will be available at www.ecasavesenergy.org.
