The Senate’s 2013-2014 session has ended and, believe it or not, the Republican-led chamber voted to protect pigeons by banning pigeon shoots while deciding against protecting Philadelphians. How? The Senate actually voted down legislation that would have set a mandatory penalty for illegally carrying a firearm in the city.
I’ll always support the humane treatment of animals but passing a specially crafted piece of legislation that allows the NRA the ability to sue municipalities over local gun laws is not the direction we should be taking.
As I have told you before, I will continue to do all I can to keep firearms out of the hands of those who should not have them. I am going to continue to push for the passage of legislation to do make this so.
