Since I last emailed, I held my 4th Annual Business Leadership Series at The Moore College of Art & Design. The event was specifically designed so area small businesses could learn about available state and local services, funding opportunities and learn about current business trends in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. Thanks to the attendees and panelists for making it the best Business Leadership Series yet.
I have three educational updates for you:
- Greenfield Elementary School’s national environmental award;
- How you can enroll your child in pre-kindergarten Head Start; and
- Easing the burden of paying for college.
As always, thank you for your support and feel free to contact me if my staff and I can be of any assistance.
All my best,
Sen. Larry Farnese
Greenfield Elementary Wins National Environmental Honor
Last week Gov. Corbett announced that the U.S. Department of Education selected the Albert M. Greenfield Elementary School at 22nd and Chestnut Streets in Center City Philadelphia for the National 2013 Green Ribbon Schools Award.
Two other schools in the commonwealth were also selected for the honor, which goes to schools that have reduced their environmental impact and costs, improved the health and wellness of their students and staff, and provided an effective environmental and sustainable curriculum. Congratulations Greenfield Elementary!
Prekindergarten Head Start Enrollment
Parents who have children ready to begin going to school should think about pre-kindergarten Head Start for 3 and 4 year olds. The program runs the entire school year during regular school hours and provides students with breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. For more information, click here or call 215-400-4270.
